![]() An old GTX 750 Ti should cost the same as a brand new GT 1030 and it is still a much better choice. But you can always either lower the graphics or resolution to getter a better output.Īs I have already mentioned in my review of Geforce GT 1030, the performance of Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti is much better than the GT 1030. However, as we move towards newer titles that require a more powerful GPU, the FPS can even drop below 30. For casual gaming, GTA V at 60fps on 1080p and high graphics is definitely enough. The gaming performance on old titles like GTA V is pretty good. If you’re a casual gamer and not much impressed by the integrated graphics, then going for one of them wouldn’t be a bad choice after all. Compared to GT 1030, it does not perform too bad and it seems good enough for casual gaming.Ĭompared to Intel’s integrated GPU of the 6th generation (Intel HD Graphics 530) and 7th generation ( Intel HD Graphics 630), both RX 550 and GT 1030 perform significantly better. The PC Configuration of this setup is AMD Ryzen R5 1400 GHz, MSI Radeon RX 550 2GB and 16GB RAM on Windows 10. This is another video where ‘Testing games’ has played 7 popular PC Games on Radeon RX 550 in under 12 minutes. The games perform decent enough and you can judge it yourself by watching this video. The processor of this setup is Intel Core i3-6100 overclocked to 4,2 GHz and the RAM is 16GB. In this 11 minutes long video, ‘Testing Games’ tried out 8 games with the GT 1030. Neither GT 1030 nor the RX 550 are strong enough to get bottlenecked by Intel Core-i3 6100 or the AMD Ryzen R5 1400. ![]() I don’t think that using different CPUs will have a significant impact on the gaming performance shared below. While in the second video, Ryzen R5 1400 is paired with the AMD Radeon RX 550. In the first video, the Intel Core i3 6100 is used alongside the Nvidia Geforce GT 1030. Real-world gaming performance should always be preferred over the benchmark scores. Let’s head over to the gameplay of both the GPUs. Other recommendations on this list will do the same, but won't be as good for gaming.Geforce GT 1030 vs AMD Radeon RX 550 Gameplay It'll also fit inside even the smallest of ITX cases that support GPUs, requiring just one PCI expansion slot on the rear of the chassis. Not only does it produce little heat and noise, but the 2GB of GDDR6 RAM is ample enough for basic gaming and 3D work. Should you simply require a GPU for a Ryzen processor and don't plan on playing too many games, this is a worthwhile consideration. ZOTAC makes some excellent high-end graphics cards, and the company's budget-friendly GT 1030 is a reliable card. One of the best GPUs you can buy right now for less than $100 is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030. ![]() This card is best suited for small PC, and NAS builds with a focus on low noise and dimensions. The 1GB DDR3 RAM is decent enough for media and general PC use, but won't work well for gaming at all. It's a small PCIe card that requires just one expansion slot on the rear of the chassis and runs really cool. The value here is impressive, especially if you want a GPU to simply run an OS and some software if your PC doesn't come with an integrated GPU on the CPU. It's not great at all, but you shouldn't really expect anything else at this price point. One of the most affordable GPUs from AMD right now is the Radeon R5 235.

![]() Plex and Jellyfin have great first-party apps for most popular devices, whether iOS or Android. We're a mostly-Apple household, so we have Apple TVs, iPads, iPhones, etc. Especially when profit must be increased, therefore features and paywalls are built with little regard for maintenance and stability!Īgain, I'm not saying that's happening, I'm just trying to make a point: there is plenty of FUD to go around in all the comparisons between Jellyfin and Plex, just as in any open source vs. In fact, longevity induces baggage (whether technical or institutional), and that can drag down a project, too. That does speak to Plex's staying power, but again, just because it's existed for a long time doesn't mean it is automatically better than Jellyfin. Jellyfin was launched as a fork of Emby only four years ago, in late 2018. A lot of the reason Plex seems to be the top choice for most people (besides marketing) is longevity: the project was started in 2007-almost 15 years ago! currently holds the crown, that doesn't mean they will forever. Companies come and go, and just because Plex, Inc. But there are no guarantees for Plex, either. I've heard that refrain so many times, and yes-if we're talking about a hobby project run by one passionate individual-that's a possibility.īut if you glance for half a second at the activity around Jellyfin, from GitHub to Reddit to Matrix chat, you'll see a vibrant and active userbase with many individual contributors. Many articles comparing Jellyfin to Plex contain a bit of anti-open-source FUD: "because Jellyfin is developed by a community and not a company, updates could be slow, or never happen, since nobody's really controlling it." The price isn't excessive, but it does cost extra, either $5/month or $120 for permanent use. Plex also paywalls some of the most useful features, like hardware transcoding and app downloads. 'corporate.' Especially around content partnerships and the way Plex markets itself. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that, it feels like some of the major features and initiatives are more. Plex, on the other hand, is run by a commercial entity, and is closed-source software-even though parts of it are built around open source components (notably, ffmpeg). I also like how the source code (and major components) are all open source, and freely available on GitHub. Their contribute page emphasizes the fact that Jellyfin is powered by community. On a basic level, as a very strong proponent of (free and) open source software, the community behind Jellyfin is more palatable to me. ![]() Many people never heard of it, and those who have often don't know why someone would choose Jellyfin over Plex, considering Plex's legacy. ![]() ![]() Today, I posted a new video, showing how I set up Jellyfin on my NAS, and explaining a bit more about transcoding, legal issues around breaking DRM, and acquiring DVDs and Blu-Rays on the cheap.īut I wanted to explain a little more about why I chose Jellyfin. Like cable networks and satellite companies before, they're raising rates (at a rate higher than inflation), stuffing their content libraries with filler that's not even worth the bandwidth to stream it, and shoving ads in paying users' faces.Īnd in my first video of this two-part series, I showed how I rip Blu-Rays and DVDs into my computer. The blog post Streaming services lost the plot detailed how streaming services have become the thing they were made to destroy. No need to re-enter my master password every time I reopen or switch browsers (which I do with some frequency). I use the desktop application, which I unlock with my master password when I start my PC, and it automatically unlocks all of its browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox, Edge.) and keeps them unlocked until I restart my computer (I can set a timer, but I don't, because only I use my PC). Here's where the magic of Roboform comes in, and what's keeping me from switching. My passwords are stored locally and I regularly back them up to a USB drive. ![]() I use Roboform purely as a password generator and manager (generate random, 20-character long passwords, store them, and auto-fill them when I tell it to) system-wide, so I don't care much about the sync/encryption/. The problem is that I can't find one that works as good as Roboform, ease-of-use-wise. It runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems with no dedicated 64-bit download provided.I currently use Roboform, but I've been trying to switch to a different password manager on and off for several years now. Previous versions of the operating system shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista having been tested. RoboForm can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. What version of Windows can RoboForm run on? The RoboForm 9.5.2 demo is available to all software users as a free download with potential restrictions and is not necessarily the full version of this software. This download is licensed as shareware for the Windows operating system from password software and can be used as a free trial until the trial period ends (after an unspecified number of days). Voice Command: Control RoboForm with voice commands.Security Audit: Check your passwords for strength and security.Secure Sharing: Share passwords and other data securely. ![]()
